1.Who we are
HandyTT (“we”, “us”) runs handytt.com and the HandyTT mobile app, a marketplace where clients in Trinidad & Tobago post jobs and contractors bid on them.
This policy explains how we handle personal information, in line with the Data Protection Act, 2011 of Trinidad & Tobago. It sits alongside our terms and conditions. For any privacy question, email support@handytt.com.
2.What we collect
When you sign up: your first and last name, email address, whether you're a client or a contractor, and your town and region. If you sign in with Google or Apple, they share your name and email with us. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider, and we never see them.
Your profile: a profile photo and phone number if you add them. Clients also choose a public handle. Contractors can add a company name, logo, cover photo, trades, bio, year founded, team size, rate, certifications, photos of past work and public contact details.
What you post and send: jobs and their photos, bids, Live Bid settings, reviews, Classifieds listings, and messages you send to other users.
Checks and plans: if we verify your business, the registration number we checked on CROS. Your membership plan and when it ends.
Emails to us: anything you send to a handytt.com address, including attachments.
How you use the site: pages visited, the referring site, browser, device type and country, through privacy-friendly analytics. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you. Our hosting providers also keep short-term technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the service running and secure.
We don't ask for sensitive information such as health, religion or political views. Please don't include it in jobs, listings or messages.
3.How we use it
- To create your account, sign you in and show your profile, jobs, bids and listings.
- To connect clients and contractors, and to deliver messages between them.
- To email you about your account and activity. See section 6.
- To check businesses for the Verified badge, and to switch paid plans on and off.
- To keep HandyTT safe: look into reports, stop fraud and spam, and enforce our terms.
- To answer your emails and support requests.
- To understand which pages are used, so we can improve the site.
- To meet our legal obligations.
4.What other people can see
Public to anyone: contractor profiles (name, company, logo, trades, bio, past work, ratings, reviews and any contact details the contractor adds), jobs you post, reviews, Classifieds listings, and your town and region on them.
Clients' names: clients appear under their @handle, not their real name. When you change your name or photo, we update it on your past jobs, reviews and listings too.
Kept private: your email address, your account phone number, a client's first and last name, and the private most-you'll-pay amount on a Live Bid.
Messages: only the people in a conversation can see it in the app. We only look at messages when we have to, for example to investigate a report or because the law requires it.
6.Emails we send
We email you when something happens on your account: a welcome email when you sign up, a new bid on your job, your bid being accepted or another contractor being hired, new messages (at most one email per conversation every 30 minutes), and notices about your account, such as verification or suspension.
These emails are part of how HandyTT works, so you can't switch them off separately today. We won't send you marketing emails without asking first.
7.Where your information is stored
Our providers store information on servers outside Trinidad & Tobago, mainly in the United States. We choose providers with strong security practices, and we only send them what they need to provide their service.
8.How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account in the app or on the website, we delete your profile, jobs, bids, listings, photos and the messages you sent straight away, and anything left in backups within 90 days, except:
- reviews you left, which stay visible under “Deleted user”;
- a bid that was accepted, kept without your name so the client's job history makes sense;
- records we need to keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons;
- records of admin actions, kept as long as we need them to deal with disputes or abuse.
9.Your choices and rights
- See and fix it: you can edit most of your details on your profile. To get a copy of what we hold about you, or to correct anything you can't edit yourself, email us.
- Delete it: in the HandyTT app, open your dashboard and tap Delete account. On the website, it's at the bottom of your Profile or Business profile page. You can also email us to delete your account and information. Either way, section 8 applies.
- Change your mind: where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Some things, like showing your profile to clients, are needed for HandyTT to work, so withdrawing may mean closing your account.
Email support@handytt.com from the address on your account. We'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with how we handled your request, you can raise it with the relevant authority in Trinidad & Tobago.
10.Keeping it secure
Information travels over encrypted connections, and database rules limit who can read or change each record. Only a small number of HandyTT admins can see account details, and their actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we'll tell you and explain what we're doing about it.
12.Children
HandyTT is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll remove the account.
13.Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy when what we collect or how we use it changes, and change the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or on the platform before it takes effect.
